The Runway of Resilience
Emily first discovered her love for the javelin at Eastern Washington University, where she competed for four years and qualified for the Big Sky Conference Championships each season. Her time on the runway built the foundation of discipline, focus, and competitive drive that still fuels her today.
After many years away from the sport, Emily is now reviving her journey in the javelin with a renewed purpose. As a legally blind athlete and current member of Team USA Para Surf, she is training with her sights set on the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
Her return to the runway represents grit, reinvention, and the belief that it is never too late to chase something extraordinary.

In the quest to qualify for the US Paralympic Track & Field team, athletes are required to pay their own expenses for training, coaching and competitions, including travel, entry fees and equipment necessary to compete at this elite level.
For Emily, this experience represents more than personal achievement, it is a chance to represent the blind and disabled community, promote adaptive sports, and prove that disability is not inability.
